I’ve never taken an indoor cycling class before. Do I have to be in great shape or experienced in cycling to spin at Go Legs, Inc.™?

One of the great things about indoor cycling is that the riders control their own speed and resistance, making it a great workout for those of all fitness levels. All classes accommodate all levels of experience. Go Legs, Inc.™ riders range from teenagers and stay-at-home moms to professional athletes and tri-athletes in training. If you’re new to indoor cycling please let your instructor know and he or she can help you adjust your bike and answer any questions. We recommend that first-time riders come to class about 15 minutes early.

How many calories will I burn and how many miles will I travel in one class?

The number of calories burned and miles biked depends on many factors, including your weight and exercise intensity. Research indicates that on average, indoor cyclists burn about 500-800 calories per 45 minute workout and travel the equivalent of 12-15 miles. Several classes a week combined with a healthy diet which includes more protein will allow for a healthy metabolism. New riders need to train their bodies and within three weeks of workouts should notice positive differences.

How is indoor cycling different from a stationary bike?

Riding on a LeMond® RevMaster provides a smoother pedaling experience than on a stationary bike. Indoor cycling is a non-impact group exercise with a motivating instructor, fun music and visualization. Lose yourself in the music and take a visionary ride up Mt. Rainier or through a photo finish at the Tour de France – indoor cycling is sure to let you get “away”!

Do I need special equipment or shoes to ride?

Longer shorts, capri/long exercise pants or bike pants are recommended. Shoes should be flat bottomed- not a running shoe- for best use of pedal straps. For the best workout riders should wear clip-in shoes that include SPD compatible Shimano cleats.

How can I maximize comfort on the bike?

For maximizing comfort on the bike, the rider should be personally fitted by the instructor. The seat should be at the height of your hip level and can be adjusted closer to or farther from the handlebars. Handlebars can be adjusted for comfort with height and distance from the seat. Always ask your instructor if something feel uncomfortable. Go Legs, Inc.™ provides special seats for male riders and sells padded gel seats for only $25.

Will indoor cycling make my legs bulky?

Indoor cycling offers a workout which can sculpt the body and offer loss of inches for each rider. The harder and longer the rider uses tension, muscle tone may appear quicker. Also, depending on the frequency that a rider works out and the rider's diet, the rider can control his or her shape. For those not looking for weight loss, indoor cycling is a great workout for the heart and the mind.

Is indoor cycling a safe form of exercise if I’m recovering from surgery or injury?

Always consult your doctor when rehabilitating an injury or coming back from surgery.

What are the age and weight requirements to ride a bike?

At Go Legs, Inc.™ we require riders to be 12 and older. LeMond® bikes have a maximum user weight of 350 lbs.
